Trisha started her career with a small role as Gayus friend alongside lead actress Simran in the film JODI which released in the year 1999 . Though trisha was offered a small role she acted well with a good performance. Trisha was offered this role after she was seen in the HORLICKS advertisement by the director of the film JODI. .
After this she made her debut as a full fledged actress in the film titled LEYSA LEYSA in the year 2002 . This was the film of the famous director turned producer PRIYADARSHAN. But unfortunately this film was a flop on a commercial note . Trisha also acted in the films titled MANASELLAM AND ALAI which released in the year 2002 & 2003 beginning . But to her misfortune these films also proved to be big flops commercially .
In the year 2002, Trisha also acted in the film Mounam Pesiyadhe which won her a film fare award for the best debut for the year 2002 in tamil . she was also praised by the critics for her acting talent .
Trisha then acted opposite Vikram in the film Samey which happened to be a big blockbuster and was a commercially very much successful. Then she was also offered the lead heroine role in the film Ghilli opposite actor Vijay . It released in the year 2004 . This film was a record commercial blockbuster and also a remake of telugu film OKKADU. She was praised for her immense acting and dancing talent . Another film which was released in the same year 2004 was ENNAKU 20 UNNAKU 18. Trisha played the character of Preethi . Actress Trisha received a big applause, especially from her critics for her acting and dancing . Later on as this film was a huge commercial success this film was also dubbed in telugu with the title Nee Manasu Naku Telusu . She acted opposite to hero Tarun . This film was also received well by the telugu viewers
Trisha also acted parallelly in the film Aayitha ezhuthu in the year 2004 . Her character she portrayed was of a bubbly girl who lives life fully on her own way . She always takes life easily . Trisha film characters name was Meera. Trisha not only acted , she also made her mark in this film by her acting and dancing skills. She also dubbed her own voice for this only film . Later this film was dubbed into telugu and hindi by the title YUVA.
The year 2006 started with a flop by the film Aathi. But this was overshadowed by the success of Something.. Something .. Unnakam.. Ennakkam.
Trisha who acted in the telugu hit film Nuvvu Vastanante Nenu Vadantana film was dubbed into Tamil by the title Something Something …Unnakkam ..Ennakkam. Trisha acted opposite to Jayam Ravi . This film was also a huge hit in the tamil film industry history .
Trisha also acted in the films titled Thirupaachi in the year 2005 in tamil . but it did not work well in the box office and as she was riding high with the tamil and telugu hits she did not concentrate on the scripts . Trisha also acted in the films Aathi, Ji and Aaru . But the first two films were huge flops . And Aaru in which she played the character of Mahalakshmi who loves a gunda played by hero Surya was not a good film also according to the box office collections .Aaru was also dubbed in telugu with the same title which did not work well except for the songs . Aaru and Ji were in the year 2005 and Aathi was in the year 2006 beginning .
The telugu film Sainikudu was also dubbed into tamil by the title Kumaran which was average hit in tamil in the year 2006
