THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Renowned playback singer K J Yesudas has been selected for the lifetime achievement award of Symphony TV for the year 2010.
“The award is being given to Yesudas for his outstanding contributions to Indian music world,” V Krishnakumar, Managing Director of Symphony TV said at a press conference
The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs One lakh, a citation and a memento, would be presented to the 70-year-old singer by Jnanipath winner O N V Kurup at a function on October 2. T K A Nair, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, will be the chief guest.
Singers Vidhu Pratap, Kalyani and Aparna Rajeev were chosen for the young achievers awards. They would get Rs 20,000 each, citation and memento.
Earlier recipients of lifetime achievement award of Symphony TV are P Bhaskaran (poet/lyricist), O N V Kurup (poet/lyricist), K P P Nambiar (technocrat), K P Udhayabhanu (singer) and M K Arjunan (music director).
