Rasathantram serves as a family entertainer with the right spell of humour being its greatest asset. Mohanlal enacts the role of carpenter Premchandran Asari with ease and naturality. His comedy timings and character performance shows the versatility of the actor. Meera Jasmine is simply superb with her flawless acting. Bharat Gopi excels in father’s role. Innocent, Oduvil, Mamukoya, Jagathy all adds it to the funny side. Music scored by Ilayaraja delivers some notable melodies. Songs and locales are picturised well. Azhagappan’s camerawork is outstanding. Though the film is technically sound, it seems to lack a solid story and a bit lengthy with the second half turning out more emotional. However Satyan has perfectly packaged it as a comic entertainer which is undoubtedly a pleasure to watch.
The Satyan Anthikkad-Mohanlal duo that had teamed up after a long gap of 12 years is sure to enthrall the audience this Vishu season.
