CHENNAI: A writ plea has been filed in Madras High Court for a direction to the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu and the City Police Commissioner to restrain Star Makers, Vadapalani and others from releasing the Tamil feature film ‘Sattapadi Kutram’.
Justice P Jyothimani, before whom the plea from J Rafique of Jamalia came up, ordered notice returnable by March 29. According to petitioner, the film, directed by SA Chandrasekaran, had political background. It contained scenes and dialogues pinpointing a political party and made serious comments against it.
The director himself had stated that the movie would make a scathing attack on politics. This would have serious impact on the public ahead of the polls, petitioner said.
