Mohanlal in court

A huge crowd came to the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court in Thrissur on Friday (June 17) to see Mohanlal. The superstar had to make an appearance in a criminal defamation case filed by writer and social activist Sukumar Azhikode.

The CJM granted bail to Mohanlal on two solvent sureties and a bond valued at Rs 20, 000. The magistrate also exempted the actor from personal apperances in the court proceedings.

The case is fallout of a verbal duel between the actor and the writer. Azhikode has been critical of the way the Association of Malayalam Movies Artistes (AMMA) has been treating veteran actor Thilakan. The noted writer was harsh on Mohanlal one of the pillars of AMMA. Moh

anlal who was constantly targeted by Azhikode hit back and said he was “mentally unstable”. This led to the writer sending a legal notice and filing a criminal complaint against the actor. Now that the tempers have cooled off there are rumours that there will be an out of court settlement between the two warring parties.
