Guess who saw the first sneak preview of Santosh Sivan’s magnum opus Urumi?
It was none other than his buddy and mentor, India’s finest director Mani Ratnam.
A special screening was arranged a day before the film’s release by Santosh, for ace director Mani Ratnam at Real Images in Chennai.
The show was held exclusively for Mani sir, on Wednesday morning (March 30) as he had to watch the India-Pakistan match in the afternoon.
After seeing Urumi, Mani Ratnam was all praise for Santosh who was away in Trivandrum for the promotions of the film.
Says Santosh: “He called me up and said it was filmed the way a period drama should be made and had a lot of good things to say.”
Later Mani sent him an SMS message- “Urumi is huge. It is entertaining and the performances very convincing. Urumi is simply Santosh Magic”.
