LOS ANGELES: Even though Robert Pattinson has yet to publicly admit that he’s dating Kristen Stewart, he offered plenty of praise for his ‘Twilight Saga’ co-star in a magazine.
“She’s cool,” Pattinson said of his rumored girlfriend. “Even before I knew her, I thought she was a really good actress. I saw ‘Into the Wild,’ and I thought she was really good in that. I still think there are very few girls in her class that are as good as she is,” he added.
But Pattinson was much less effusive when asked whether there are similarities between his off-screen and onscreen love lives. “Are you asking me if I’m really a vampire?” he responded, reportedly laughing. “Yes. Um. No, not really,” he continued, vaguely. “It’s pretty hard to … It’s just very traumatic.”
Pattinson, 24, is convinced that when the final installment comes out – in November 2012 – “the media will lose interest” in their relationship – whether it’s platonic or not. “There’ll be nothing to say,” he told the magazine. “It won’t fit into a headline anymore. It won’t fit into a template.”
But there’s at least one other co-star he probably won’t mind being linked to for life: Tai, the elephant he worked with on the upcoming ‘Water for Elephants’.
“She was the best actor I ever worked with in my life,” Pattinson said. “I cried when the elephant was wrapped. I never cried when anyone else was wrapped.”
The Brit went on to give a revealing and sharply contrasting assessment of his pre-and post-‘Twilight’ life. When anonymity wasn’t such a prized possession, Pattinson would “go to the cinema every single day,” where he “learned so much” about artsy and obscure film directors.
“Well, I sound like such a snobby little s—.” Somewhere along the way, the snobbery must have dissipated. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me. My brain doesn’t work anymore. I haven’t any memory,” Pattinson said. “I can’t write. All I can do is sign my name. I tried to write the other day – it looked like I was writing in Braille.”
The actor gave a writing sample and pointed out that “it looks like spiders have written it.”
“I’ve just kind of stopped doing everything,” he said. “I never change the channel in my trailer. I just watch reruns of ‘House of Payne’ and ‘Two and a Half Men.’ I love ‘Cops’ – I think it’s my favorite TV show … God,” Pattinson said, again reportedly laughing. “I sound like such a loser.”
But what Pattinson may lack in terms of scandalous behavior, Charlie Sheen – whom he admires – more than makes up for. “I like crazy people who don’t give a damn,” he said.
