While all the focus has been centering around Puneet Raj Kumar`s Jackie which has taken a huge opening and is picking up record collections in the first week, Sudeep starrer Kichcha Huchcha which was released just a day after Jackie has also become a safe proposition for the producer and distributors because of its low cost of production and distribution rights.
The holidays has helped Kichcha Huchcha to storm the big competition from Jackie and Brindavanam and it has been able to get good collections in all the centres it has been released. Another notable feature is that by the time Kichcha Huchcha gets released in the B centres, it would not face any competition from Jackie as it has already been released in many major B centres all around the state.
Kichcha Huchcha has been in the making for the last two years and has faced a few postponements for its release. Producer K.Manju should be blamed for his lackadaisical attitude in not promoting the film from the beginning. The film boasts of only known stars like Sudeep, Ramya and Srinath while other artists are all picked up from television serials.
Except for the songs which were shot abroad, the major part of production work has been done in Bengaluru. And the distributors of the film are also not complaining. Producer K.Manju has sold the film for very competitive rates. For example in Mysore, K.Manju is supposed to have sold the distribution rights on commission basis for Rs.30 lacs, while Veera Parampare has been sold for around Rs. 1 crore.
Kichcha Huchcha has been able to collect Rs. 16 lacs in the Mysore distribution area which has ensured recovery of cost for the distributor. Trade analysts say that even Kichcha Huchcha would be a winner if it gets around 30 percent of collections of what Jackie gets in theatres. Kichcha Huchcha has got another breather now as the release of Veera Parampare has been postponed by one more week.
