Another honour awaits A R Rahman. The Oscar-Grammy winner music composer has been selected for the Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration for his contributions in promoting national unity.
The Mozart of Madras, along with Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, will receive the prestigious award at a grand function.
The award, which consists of a citation and Rs 2.5 lakh, will be presented by Congress president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi at Teen Murti House on October 31, the death anniversary of the former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi.
The award was instituted by the Congress, which heads the UPA government in the Centre, in 1985 to recognise distinguished persons for outstanding contributions to the cause of national integration.
