Aamir Khan’s item song in ‘Delhi Belly’

Actor-filmmaker Aamir Khan, who will be seen doing an item number in his latest production ‘Delhi Belly’, says his performance is a tribute to the Bollywood legends who had rocked the disco era of 80s.

“I am paying a tribute to those Bollywood legends who had rocked the disco era in the 80s. It is my tribute to Mithunda, Govinda, Amitji, Anilji and Rishiji who were ruling the era,”

Aamir told reporters after unveiling the first look of his item song — ‘I hate you…’

Aamir said he has incorporated the styles of these legends in the dance number which has been choreographed by Bosco.

“I have copied Amitji’s hairstyle, Govinda and Mithunda’s dance style. Hair on my chest is from Anilji and the dressing is an amalgamation of all,” he said. The actor-producer said he was at ease while performing his first ever “full-on” item number. “I was quite comfortable while doing it and enjoyed it very much. It took me one day to rehearse it. This is the first ever item number I have performed and I don’t mind doing it again,” he said, adding that his wife Kiran Rao had encouraged him to take up the song.

“My last prominent screen appearance was in ‘3 Idiots’. I once again wanted to be in front of my fans and so I thought

of doing this. Kiran had suggested me to do this song,” the

actor said.

When asked whether the item song would be as popular as ‘Munni badnam hui’ and ‘Sheila ki jawani’, he said, “I hope it becomes a success…it all depends on the audience.”

On the buzz in B-town about Katrina Kaif performing in the song Aamir said, “I had approached almost every actress for the song but I did not get any feed-back from them.” Ram Sampath has composed the music for the song written by lyricist Akshat.

The movie — a sex comedy– directed by Abhinay Deo is slated to release on July 1 and will star Aamir’s nephew Imran Khan, Vir Das and Kunaal Roy Kapoor.
