A R Rahman will take part in the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the first Indians in South Africa with a three-city tour of his ‘Jai Ho’ concert.
With his participation, the Oscar-Grammy winner from India will become the first overseas artist to play at the prestigious Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, built especially for the FIFA 2010 World Cup.
He will also play in Cape Town and at Sun City in November. ‘We are proud to be associated with the A R Rahman Jai Ho Concert”, Fathima Hassim, from DStv Indian, which beams a range of Indian channels into South African homes, was quoted as saying.
“South African fans can expect a fusion of Eastern and Western musical influences that will take Bollywood music into the future with this incredible production”, Sam Hendrikse, CEO of Hunta Live, who is co-hosting the show with DStv Indian, reportedly said.
