Deepika gets a break in Chingari

Bengaluru model, college student Deepika Kamaiah, one of the finalists of the Miss India South beauty pageant, is now the heroine of Challening star Darshan’s new film Chingari being directed by Harsha.
She is now making preparations for going to Switzerland to shoot the songs of her debut film in the month of October.

Deepika has now replaced Mumbai choreographer turned dancer Daisy Shah who had participated in the muhurath and pooja of the film.

Deepika is quite happy to be paired with Darshan in her first film. She won MTV Lycra Style award last year and has already acted in the Tamil films Pesu and Anmai Thavaril. “I am not nervous but excited to be part of this film,” says Deepika Kamaiah.

Deepika’s family hails from the Kodagu district though her family is settled in Bengaluru. She is currently doing her final year B.Com from Bishop Cottons. She has been modeling for some time now. She speaks good Kannada which is an added advantage for the film. The first day’s shoot saw Darshan trying to woo Deepika and getting scolded in the process. Darshan plays a typical `tapori` in the film and is however not amused by the choice of the new heroine.

“I heard that the original choice Daisy Shah had too many demands. I had no objection for the change as the shooting had not yet started and I always believe it is the prerogative of the producer and director of the film to choose the heroine,” says Darshan.

Deepika is the second Kannada speaking girl who has replaced a Mumbai import who was selected earlier. Sudeep has now brought in another beauty pageant participant and actress Raagini for his Kempe Gowda. Looks as if the local girls are the pick of the season and they are prepared to take challenges from the Bollywood brigade.
