A Tale of Two Heroines

For a heroine to survive in the industry, more than her acting credentials, she needs to have a slender frame and should take care at all times not to put on weight which would hamper her chances of pairing up opposite top heroes. While actors can get away with a little bit of flab around their waist, actresses can ill-afford to have a bulky figure.

In Bollywood, almost all the ladies including the likes of Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Bipasha Basu and Anoushka Sharma believe in the ‘size zero’ syndrome and keep their figures intact. In Tamil films, though, except for the likes of Shriya Saran, Tamannaah and Trisha (to some extent), not many actresses believe in keeping their bodies slim to grab chances.

Poonam Bajwa, who debuted as heroine opposite Jeeva in ‘Thenavattu’ a few years back, appears to have been unable to control her weight. Though she doesn’t have any film offers on hand at present, she better keep a watch on her increasing waistline. For the record, though, she states that she won’t seek “anybody’s recommendations” and that she’d take things in her own stride and adds that she knows when and how to bring her weight under control.

Poorna, who has been having a handful of films, has become very slim indeed. The actress, who debuted in “Muniyandi Vilangiyal Moondramaandu” opposite Bharath, is said to be consciously maintaining her slender frame. At present, she has 4-5 films in Tamil alone and is working like a busy-bee. The Srikanth-Vishnu starrer ‘Drohi’ would be her next release, she informs.

Due to her busy schedule, Poorna hasn’t been able to eat at the right time and this is cited as the main reason for becoming slim!
