Arvind Swamy, the yesteryear chocolate hero of Tamil cinema, was on Friday obtained divorce from his wife Gayathri Ramamurthy by mutual consent from the Family Court in Chennai.
Principal Family Court Judge S Meenakshisundaram granted the divorce to the couple and announced that their marriage solemnised in June 1994 was dissolved by a decree of mutual consent.
On December 1, the couple had filed a joint memorandum before the Court detailing their settlement covering maintenance, custody of children and visiting rights.
As per the agreement, Arvind Swamy will make a one-time payment of Rs 75 lakh to his wife, in addition to a monthly payment of one lakh towards maintenance from the date of dissolution of the marriage.
The monthly alimony would not be enhanced under any circumstances, the agreement said. Both of them agreed to exhaustive set of terms and conditions covering maintenance, custody of their two children and visiting rights.
