Veteran Malayalam cine actress Adoor Pankajam (83), who excelled in character and humour roles along with her sister late Adoor Bhavani, passed away on late Saturday at her house at Adoor in Kollam district tonight after a prolonged illness.
She is survived by a son. She breathed her last at her son’s home. The last rites would be conducted on Sunday afternoon.
In a career spanning more than four decades, Pankajam acted in close to 400 films and is best known for her role in the National Award winning Malayalam film Chemmen (1965). In 2008, the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy honoured Pankajam for her overall contributions to theatre and drama.
